Francesco Urbano Ragazzi.
Curatorial Residency Program in Athens: May-June 2026.
ARTWORKS Athens welcomes the duo Francesco Urbano Ragazzi for the A/ACR Curatorial Residency Program (May–June 2026).
Developed as an extension of LAAAAAND: Curating Another Nation (School of Visual Arts, New York, 2025), the curators’ research during this residency investigates how curatorial practice can engage with the notion of “national art” beyond fixed or exclusionary narratives.
Through studio visits, institutional encounters, and conversations across Athens’ vibrant artistic ecosystem, the program fosters a dialogue between Mediterranean perspectives and international discourse. The residency at ARTWORKS offers a particularly fertile context for the duo to further pursue their research on national representations in a historical moment marked by the global rise of nationalisms, and to reflect on how Mediterranean alliances can be strengthened in response to these dynamics.
Public conversation with Marina Fokidis.
Library Auditorium, Athens School of Fine Arts (Pireos 256, Ag. Rentis).
17 June 2026, 18:00.
In the context of A/ACR the duo Francesco Urbano Ragazzi will held a pubic conversation with curator, writer, and institution-builder Marina Fokidis reflecting on strategies for “hacking conventions” within contemporary art and cultural production.
Drawing from past collaborations and shared interests, Francesco Urbano Ragazzi will discuss projects focused on queer heritage, the reappropriation of public space, and new approaches to exhibition-making in a time of resurging nationalisms. The discussion will explore how curatorial practices can create productive short circuits between social realities and artistic operations, and how they can operate as forms of political insubordination.
