Again, Again It All Comes Back to Me in Brief Glimpses. The Book

A true pillars of avant-garde and independent cinema, Jonas Mekas’s oeuvre is an ode to the vitality of daily life. In his films and video-installations, the camera becomes a diary for recording intense fragments of his life: a flower, a cat, the energy of a choir, or a gathering with his friends Andy Warhol, Allen Ginsberg, and Yoko Ono. Through non-narrative, kaleidoscopic editing, Mekas assembles these moments into lyrical films that evince the language of poetry.

Held at MMCA – Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Korea, Again, Again It All Came Back to Me in Brief Glimpses was the first retrospective exhibition of Jonas Mekas’s work in Asia. The catalogue of the show is therefore a key publication to discover the very special life it portrays.

Edited by Francesco Urbano Ragazzi and Eunhee Kim, the book also features texts by Bartomeu Marí, P. Adams Sitney, Pip Chodorov, Eunhee Kim, Jonas Mekas, Amy Taubin, and an interview to the artist by Hans Ulrich Obrist.
